Breastfeeding Questions and Concerns about Breastfeeding
The Nebraska WIC Program advocates breasts feeding as the ideal method of Infant feeding during the first twelve months of life. The use of iron fortified formula is recommended when breast feeding is discontinued or not possible.
* The Nebraska WIC program provides an iron-fortified milk-based and a soy-based standard infant formula. A bid/contract system is used to determine which brands of infant formulas will be used. * All infants participating in WIC in Nebraska will receive the contract stand milk-based or soy-based formula, unless a physician diagnoses a medical need or severe intolerance that indicates the need for a contract modified standard Infant formula or special formula. * Not all formula Physicians requests are WIC approved.
